Last night for dessert, we made some really cute Easter Bunny Peep Race Cars. They are a fun little DIY project that even younger kids can do pretty much themselves.

Last year at Easter, we made these at home and also with our 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School class.

I helped with cutting the driver’s seat out of the Twinkie, but then the kids were on their own.

We had a couple kids that cut all the way through the Twinkie before I got around to helping them but other than that, it all went really well.

The car and driver

The body of the car is made out of a Twinkie. I got every color of marshmallow Peep bunny that I could find for my race car drivers.

Do they not make yellow bunnies any more?

The Steering Wheel

I wanted to get some pretzels covered in white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles for the steering wheels, but I could not find any in the store.

I don’t normally buy that kind of stuff so I have no idea what part of the store you’d have to go to in order to find them.

The Wheels

For the wheels, I got snack packs of mini Oreo cookies.

There were about 8 or 9 cookies in each snack pack.

We attached the wheels with a dab of vanilla frosting.

It was so easy to put together and fast, too.

We could have been done making and eating them in about 5 minutes if we hadn’t stopped to take pictures of each one.

For the car with the pink and blue bunnies in it, you just have to cut two seats into the Twinkie.

So easy and so cute. Try them with your family.

You can get as creative as you want with your Twinkie Peeps Race Cars – use two drivers, decorate them with M&M’s, add other embellishments.
